The Chief Justice during a meeting with the LLA delegation headed by Hon. Samuel F. Kpakio, emphasized that the Supreme Court stands ready to work with the LLA to move beyond policy to practical action. The Supreme Court’s support signals a decisive step toward strengthening land tenure security, reducing disputes, and building public confidence and trust.
The move according to the LLA Chairman, Hon. Samuel F. Kpakio, is not only a giant step toward the fulfillment of the LLA Act of 2016 and the Land Rights Act of 2018, thus it is a major step toward land reform and advancing a transparent, secure and accountable environment for all Liberians where land disputes and conflicts are minimized.
Moreover, the Chief Justice and the LLA Chairman at the end of the meeting agreed to jointly host a conference/workshop where technicians from the LLA along with the LLA Board of Commissioners will showcase the level of progress made thus far since the end of the last conference held in Gbarnga, Bong County.
His Honor Yarmie Gbeisay stated that it is time to move forward land reform programs designed to enhance land governance and administration. Thus, the conference will bring together the full bench of the Supreme Court, Judges, Lawyers, Magistrates, key stakeholders, line ministries and agencies, along with implementing partners.
